Set up inventory for a Jovvie Point of Sale station

Choose how each Jovvie Point of Sale station tracks stock. A station can use the stock counts from your store or keep its own counts. Stock settings are on the station’s Products tab.

Before you start

• Turn on stock management for your products in your store. On each product, select Manage stock? in the Inventory tab.
• You need to be an administrator or shop manager.

Choose where the station gets its stock

1. In your dashboard, go to POS > Stations.
2. Click Edit Station on the station.
3. Open the Products tab.
4. Under Inventory Management, open Inventory location.
5. Choose one:
   • Shop Base Quantity: use the same stock counts as your store.
   • Station location: keep separate stock counts for this station only.
   • The name of another station: use that station’s stock counts.
6. Click Save.

The Online Storefront Station always uses Shop Base Quantity.

Enter stock for each station

When a station keeps its own counts, you enter them on each product.

1. Go to Products and open the product.
2. In Product data, open the Inventory tab.
3. Select Manage stock?.
4. Find the field named after your station, such as Front counter (Quantity). Enter the number in stock at that station.
5. Click Update.

For a variable product, each variation has its own station quantity fields under the variation’s inventory options.

Note

You see one (Quantity) field for each station. Only the one for the station you chose as the Inventory location is used.

Choose what happens when stock runs out

Under Inventory Management, choose one:

• Reduce stock and not allow product to be added to cart: staff cannot add more of a product than you have.
• Reduce stock but allow product to be added to cart for backorder: staff can still sell it, and the count goes down.

The first option is only available when stock management is turned on for your store.

Click Save after you choose.

Hide out of stock products

Hiding only works when Reduce stock and not allow product to be added to cart is chosen. With the backorder option, out of stock products stay in the product list even if this box is selected.

1. Check that Reduce stock and not allow product to be added to cart is chosen under Inventory Management.
2. Select Hide out of stock products from POS product list.
3. Click Save.

Hold stock for items in a cart

Hold stock (minutes) reserves stock for products placed in a cart. When the time runs out, the stock is released. If the station uses Reduce stock and not allow product to be added to cart, the register also shows Product inventory expired.

1. In Hold stock (minutes), enter the number of minutes.
2. Click Save.

Leave the field blank to turn this off.
