Apply a coupon in Jovvie Point of Sale

Use a coupon to discount the whole sale or specific products, depending on the coupon’s rules. You can apply a coupon that already exists in your store, or create a custom percent or fixed discount on the spot. This page also explains why a coupon might not be accepted.

  • Coupons must be turned on in your store settings. If they are off, the Coupons screen shows Coupons are disabled.
  • The cart needs at least one item. See Find and add products.
  • To create custom discounts, Enable Manual Coupons must be turned on in the station’s Products tab. An administrator or shop manager can do this.
  • The Add a discount button can be hidden for a station. If you do not see it, ask an administrator or shop manager.
  1. Tap the three-dot menu in the cart totals area.
  2. Tap Add a discount. The Coupons screen opens.
  3. Find the coupon. The field you see depends on your permissions and settings:
    • Search (enter 3 or more characters): type at least three characters of the code, then tap the coupon in the list.
    • Enter coupon: type the full code, then tap the matching coupon in the results.
    • Coupon code: type the full code.
  4. Tap Apply. If you see a list of results, Apply stays off until you tap a coupon.

The register shows Discount applied and the discount appears in the cart totals. Tap Sync on the Coupons screen to reload the list if a new coupon is missing.

Coupons already in the cart do not show in the list. A coupon can only be applied once to the same sale.

Custom discounts let you give a one-off discount without a saved coupon.

  1. Open the Coupons screen, as in steps 1 and 2 of Apply a store coupon.
  2. Tap Add custom. The Custom Coupons screen opens. (This button shows only when manual coupons are turned on and your user has full access to the register. If you do not see it, ask an administrator or shop manager.)
  3. Choose the type:
    • Percent Discount: takes a percent off the order.
    • Fixed Cart Discount: takes a fixed amount off the whole order.
    • Fixed Product Discount: takes a fixed amount off each product.
  4. Enter the amount on the keypad. A percent must be above 0 and no more than 100.
  5. Tap Apply.

Custom discounts are saved in your store as coupons, so the same discount is reused the next time you pick the same type and amount.

You cannot apply any coupon or custom discount while the cart has a custom product that was not saved. The register shows a red message starting with Sorry discount. Remove that item from the cart, apply the coupon, then add the item again with Save turned on if you want it discounted. See Add a custom product.

If a coupon cannot be used, the register shows a red message. The message tells you which coupon rule was not met. These rules come from the coupon’s settings.

  • Invalid Coupon Code. or Select coupon: no code was entered, or nothing was chosen. Enter or select a coupon and try again.
  • This coupon already applied: the coupon is already in the cart.
  • A message starting with Coupon not applied: followed by a reason:
    • Coupon Expiration Date: the coupon has expired.
    • Minimum Spend or Maximum Spend: the cart total is below the minimum or above the maximum for this coupon. The required amount is shown.
    • Exclude Sale Items: the coupon does not apply to items on sale.
    • Products or Exclude Products: the cart does not have the products the coupon needs, or has products it excludes.
    • Product Categories or Excluded Categories: the same, for product categories.
    • Usage Limit per coupon or Usage limit per user: the coupon has been used as many times as allowed.
    • Individual use only: the coupon cannot be combined with another coupon.
  • Not found: the search found no coupon.

To fix a rule, change the cart so it meets the rule, or use a different coupon. An administrator or shop manager can edit the coupon’s rules in your dashboard.

Tap the remove button next to the discount line in the cart totals. The register shows Discount removed from order.
