Jovvie Point of Sale overview
Jovvie Point of Sale is a full register for selling in store, on the go, or wherever your customers are. Staff sign in, add products to a cart, take cash, card, and other payments, and look up orders. This page explains the two ways to run Point of Sale and where to start with each.
Two ways to run Point of Sale
Section titled “Two ways to run Point of Sale”To set up Point of Sale, you create an application in your Jovvie account. When you create it, you choose one of two setups: Standalone or WooCommerce.
| Standalone | WooCommerce | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it is for | Businesses that want Jovvie to host their store and register | Businesses that already have a WooCommerce store and want in-person sales to share its products, customers, and orders |
| Where your store lives | Jovvie hosts it for you. It can include an online shop where customers order, which is off by default | On your own WooCommerce site |
| Where you manage it | Your own Jovvie address, such as yourstore.jovvie.app, which has your store dashboard and your register |
Your WordPress admin, plus the register |
| What you install | Nothing | The Point of Sale plugin. You then choose a Cloud Connection or a Self-Hosted Connection for where the register app runs |
What is the same in both
Section titled “What is the same in both”The register works the same way in both setups. Stations, register screens, payments, cash management, orders, and reports have the same names and buttons. Most pages in this section apply to both.
Dashboard menus and some setup procedures differ between Standalone and WooCommerce. When a step depends on your setup, the page shows two tabs, Standalone and WooCommerce. Choose your setup once, and the pages remember it.
A few pages are only for WooCommerce stores, for example installing the plugin and WooCommerce extensions such as Points and Rewards. Those pages say so in their first sentence.
Card payments
Section titled “Card payments”Point of Sale takes card payments with Stripe or NMI. Some features differ between the two. See Stripe and NMI: what’s different.
