Add Jovvie Checkout to a Gravity Forms form

This page helps you set up a Gravity Forms form so it can take in-person payments with Jovvie. A form takes Jovvie payments when it has a pricing field that produces an amount and a Jovvie payment feed (the setting that sends submissions to Jovvie). You can also add the Jovvie Payments field to tell customers how they will pay.

  • The Jovvie add-on is installed and Connection Status shows Connected. See Install and connect.
  • You are signed in to WordPress as an administrator.
  • You have a form open in the Gravity Forms form editor. If you need to create one, see Gravity Forms’ own documentation.

Jovvie charges the amount your form produces. It has no separate amount setting.

  1. In the form editor, add a Product, Total, or Donation field to the form.
  2. Set up the field so the form produces an amount greater than zero when it is submitted.
  3. Save the form.

If the amount is zero or less, the payment does not start. The entry gets a note that starts with Jovvie payment not started.

The Jovvie Payments field does not collect card details or any other value. It shows a notice on the form telling the customer they will be sent to the Jovvie payment page to pay after they submit.

  1. In the form editor, open the Pricing Fields group.
  2. Drag Jovvie Payments onto the form.
  3. Change the label or description if you want. You can also use the field’s conditional logic.
  4. Save the form.

When the add-on is in test mode, the field also shows the notice Test mode is enabled. No live payment will be processed.

The feed tells Gravity Forms which submissions to send to Jovvie for payment.

  1. In the form, open the form’s settings and select Jovvie Payments.

  2. Add a new feed. Gravity Forms’ own documentation explains how feeds work.

  3. In Name, enter a name for the feed. This is required.

  4. In Description, enter the text the customer and staff see on the Jovvie payment page. This is optional. Gravity Forms merge tags work here.

If you leave it empty, the page shows a message that starts with Payment via Gravity Forms on followed by your site name and the entry number.

  5. To use the feed only in some cases, set a Condition under Conditional Logic.

  6. Save the feed.

  1. In WordPress, go to Forms > Settings > Jovvie Payments.
  2. Select Use the Jovvie test environment. See Use test mode.
  3. Save your settings.
  4. Open the form on the device you will use.
  5. Fill it out and submit it.
  6. Confirm that you are sent to the Jovvie payment page, and that the orange Test Mode bar appears across the top. See Take a payment on the Jovvie payment page.
  7. Finish the test payment on a simulated reader.
  8. When you are done, go back to Forms > Settings > Jovvie Payments.
  9. Clear Use the Jovvie test environment.
  10. Save your settings before you take real payments.

For the full steps, see Take an in-person payment with a form.

If you submit the form and are not sent to the Jovvie payment page, open the entry in Gravity Forms and read its notes.

  • A note that starts with Jovvie Payments is not configured means the Public Key and Secret Key are missing. See Install and connect.
  • A note that starts with Jovvie payment could not be created means the request to Jovvie failed. Contact Jovvie support.

In both cases the entry’s payment status is Failed. The entry can show Failed even when the problem happened after a payment was set up, so do not treat it as proof that the customer was not charged. Before you submit the form again or take the payment another way, check your Stripe Dashboard and confirm that no payment went through and none is still processing. If you are not sure, contact Jovvie support.
