Redeem WooCommerce Points and Rewards in Jovvie Point of Sale

This page is for stores that use the WooCommerce Points and Rewards extension. If your store uses it, the register can show a Points & Rewards screen at checkout. This page shows you how to use it to see how many points the customer earns on the order and let them use their points for a discount.

Points and Rewards work the same whether your store uses Stripe or NMI for cards.

  • The WooCommerce Points and Rewards extension is installed and active on your store. Points values and limits come from its settings.
  • On the station’s Cart tab, Enable Points and Rewards on Checkout is selected. An administrator or shop manager sets this in POS > Stations > Edit Station.
  • The order has a customer. See Add a customer to a sale. For orders without a customer, the screen only appears if the station’s Point and Rewards behavior for guest customer is set to Offer to select customer.
  • The cart has at least one item. See Find and add products.

If tips are on for the station, the Points & Rewards screen opens before the tip screen. If Display Points and Rewards after Tips is selected on the station’s Cart tab, it opens after the tip screen.

  1. In the cart, tap Checkout.

The Points & Rewards screen opens with the customer’s name. Points Earned shows the points the customer earns on this order. Current Points and Value of Points show the customer’s balance.

  2. Tap Redeem Points. The button shows how many points will be used.

The register applies the discount to the order and shows Points was successfully redeemed. Checkout continues with the lower total. If the tip screen comes next, complete it.

  3. Take the payment as usual. For example, see Take a cash payment or Take a Stripe card reader payment in Jovvie Point of Sale.

The points are taken from the customer’s balance when you tap Redeem Points. The discount is added to the order as a coupon.

On the Points & Rewards screen, tap Do not Redeem. Checkout continues with the full total. The customer still earns the points shown under Points Earned, based on your Points and Rewards settings.

You might see one of these instead of Redeem Points:

  • A message starting with Get and ending with more points to redeem them: the customer does not have enough points yet. Tap Continue.
  • Maximum allowed points per order has already been redeemed: no more points can be used on this order. Tap Continue.

If the order has no customer, the screen shows Add Customer to the Order and Skip.

  1. Tap Add Customer to the Order.

  2. Choose or add the customer.

The register goes back to the cart.

  3. Tap Checkout again.

To continue without a customer, tap Skip. No points are earned or redeemed.

If you leave checkout after redeeming and then tap Checkout again, the register removes the earlier discount and gives the points back to the customer. The Points & Rewards screen opens again, and you can choose again.

If something goes wrong, the register shows a message, such as Error: Insufficient points., and checkout continues without the discount. Check the total before you take payment. To try again, tap Cancel checkout, then tap Checkout again.
